We are currently looking to expand our translation team in order to bring you articles and interviews much more quickly!

The requirements are simple: you must be able to read and translate from Chinese to English, and have enough free time to dedicate to translating for us. We are very lax when it comes to translators needing to take a hiatus, however right now we are searching for translators that would be able to start translating right away.

Although it’s over a week late, happy new year to everyone from geng-bao.net staff!

In 2010, geng-bao.net went from being just an idea to a small LJ community, and since has grown into a website of its own. We just recently reached over 2,000 members here on our forum, and for a website that only opened in July, we think that is an great accomplishment. None of this would be possible without our amazing staff, translators and subbers, who really helped our website to grow. (Of course, Han Geng’s amazing accomplishments in 2010 are what really helped us! He certainly gave us plenty of material to talk about!)

That is why, now that our website has grown bigger, we’ve decided to add some moderators to specific sections: for the Blog/Weibo Entries, sltan, for Pictures, mrhanoh, for Video & Audio, pinkshambles, and for Subtitled Videos, Brian. We’ve also added new members to our translation and subbing team, so for a full list of all of our staff, please look here.

We recently created a Facebook account for geng-bao.net! This adds to our ever growing list of social media used by geng-bao.net, so check out the full list here.

With the coming of the new year, we’ve decided to add one new rule to our forum: starting from January 13, 2011 a minimum post count of 10 posts will be required to enter our Pictures and Video & Audio sections. It’s not difficult to get 10 posts, and we encourage everyone to post as much as they want, at the very least to thank our translators, staff, and uploaders for the hardwork they put in to updating with the latest Han Geng news and media. And of course, we have our Han Geng Fan Lounge, where you can talk about anything Han Geng related, and our general Fan Zone, where you can talk about everything else!

We’d also like to take the time to remind our members of a few rules we’ve had since day one:

Quote: 1. Do not sign up as Han Geng or pick a name that contains his name. For example: Han Geng's Wifey or Han Geng84.

We’ve been very lenient with this rule, and so a number of our members have usernames with Han Geng’s name in it. For the members that already do, you aren’t going to be forced to change your name, but it would be nice if you did. You don’t have to do it, of course. However, anyone that we see registered after this post was made with Han Geng’s name in their username will be forced change their username.

If you would like to change your username, just PM me with the new username you want.

We’ve also been more or less lenient with this, but now we are going to put more effort into PMing people with signatures that are too large and asking them to change it. To save us the hassle, please check your signature and make sure it complies with our rules.

It’s not hard to tell that 2011 is going to be a fantastic year for Han Geng, with a new album plus his movie roles to anticipate, plus everything else he might have in store for us, and geng-bao.net is definitely going to be by his side the entire way! So we’d like to ask for everyone’s assistance in making this site the number one international source for everything Han Geng related!

P.S. The deadlines for Han Geng’s Birthday Project are fast approaching, so make sure you get your cards in the mail! Also, we’ve received over $200USD in donations so far, which means we’ll be able to donate at least four sheep to farmers and families in need. I think the schedule thread is a little confusing... Is there no way that someone can take the info from the posts that get made, delete the posts, then just add all of the information to the first post?
Or have a schedule like on SJW??

1. Have you registered on Sina microblog for the forum? I think it is quite useful to have an official name of the forum at Sina, where it is easier to get contact with lots of Chinese Geng fans as well as some foreign geng fans and get help there.
I have been focused on the Sina microblog for about a month and I think it's very very helpful.
If you decide to register at Sina microblog in the name of the forum, please do tell me.

2. Do you have any contacts with the principal of the translation and video groups of some famous forums in China, such as ihangeng（追光） and The King Han Geng(王者韩庚）, and of course, the masters of the Baidu Bar? I think they could provide support on the video making and translation.

A place to show Geng fans' performance in support activities

Oh, this is totally a new area. I just have an idea.

Is there a place for the pictures of Geng fans? It might show the strangers what kind of group they are and how they support Han Geng with discipline and effort.

Let me have a try to make it more clear. Just take the activity at Inner Mongolia on July 31 for example this time. The performance of the Geng fans of Inner Mongolia is really awesome and cute!

Translation/Subbing Team Recruitment

Want to join the Geng Bao translation/subbing team? At this time, we are honestly looking for as many people as we can get to help us translate and sub Han Geng goodies!

I want to make sure to emphasize that we need people to help us with subbing in particular and that for this job, you do not need to know Chinese (or Korean) or be incredibly tech savvy to apply for it! Indeed, we at Geng Bao will even provide you with tutorials to help you learn how to sub. Trust me, it's not hard at all!

Position we are currently seeking:

Translators: for this position, Chinese skills are required. Please don't apply for this position if you intend to use online translators as the sole tool for translating. At this time, we mostly need Chinese translators but Korean translators are also welcome to apply. Duties for this job include translating articles, news, blog entries, videos, etc.

Subbers: now this is a position where everyone is welcome to apply! You don't need to know Chinese or Korean to help us subtitled videos. Indeed, all you need is a very crafty free software that might seem intimidating at first but you'll familiarize yourself with it quite quickly. We will be happy to provide you with tutorials and such to make the process much easier and we can vouch to you that it's definitely not hard. Both my co-mod and I started using it when we opened Geng Bao as we both had no experience whatsoever with subbing before but honestly, even for someone like me who is somewhat tech illiterate, I learned to use to very quickly and I have encountered almost no problems with it.

We will work as a team and work will be equally divided among all of us; therefore, it won't be just one person getting a lot of work and the rest not getting any.

Remember, the more subber that we have the faster we can release Geng Bao subbed goodies! Like I said, it's very easy to learn how to do this and we will provide you with tutorials to make it even easier and you don't need to know Chinese or Korean to apply for this.

Posting Rules:
1. Please credit properly whenever posting any information you obtained from another source.
2. We welcome differing opinions and debate. What we don’t welcome, however, is straight up bashing. I think most people are aware what constitutes as valid criticism and what constitutes as bashing and as long as that thin line is not crossed, there should be no problem. We want to keep this forum are peaceful as possible.
3. Racism, sexism, homophobia, religious intolerance, and insults about one person's lifestyle will not be tolerated.
5. NO SPAM! Any comment or thread that is deemed as spam will be deleted. Comments that are short and made just for the sake of increasing one's post count and comments that constitute of only an emoticon are considered spam.
6. Please tag your posts appropriately. Each section will have a specific thread indicating how entries in that particularly section should be tagged.
7. Keep swear words to a minimum and be mindful of the way you express yourself.
8. Any discussion of politics or sensitive topics that could offend a group of people are discouraged. We created this forum in order to entertain not to fight over sensitive topics.
